Network presentation
« The CANGI « Clinical, biological and neurophysiological characteristics of autism and neurodevelopmental disorders in girls” network is a transversal research action supported in 2020-2021 by the GIS ASD&NDDisorders. This network aims to federate clinical and research teams (students, researchers and clinicians) working on the issue of a female ASD phenotype, integrating the international community and user associations.
The objectives of this network are to promote the integration of the sex/gender variable within scientific collaborations, to ensure a scientific watch and a sharing of knowledge as well as to improve the diagnostic and support pathways for women/girls with ASD in France (translation and validation of Anglo-Saxon scales, creation of a shared database, collection of needs for dedicated re-education, rehabilitation and remediation pathways)
The CANGI network is coordinated by Dr. Anouck AMESTOY (Bordeaux – INCIA, Charles Perrens) and is made up of a Scientific and Advisory Board composed of:

Biosketches
Pr William MANDY
Will Mandy is a clinical psychologist and professor at University College London (UCL), where he is joint director of the UCL clinical psychology training course, which is the largest of its kind in Europe. His work aims to improve the recognition of autism, and to develop new interventions to help autistic people. He has a particular research interest in improving the identification and care of females on the autism spectrum, who are currently at high risk of going unnoticed and unhelped by clinical and educational services. He also studies subdiagnostic autistic traits in non-clinical populations, and the role these can play in the development of a range of common childhood, adolescent and adult mental health problems. With colleagues at Great Ormond Street Hospital’s National Centre for High-Functioning Autism he has developed and trialled interventions to help children with autism transition from primary to secondary school, and to teach children about their autism diagnosis, with an emphasis on fostering their sense of self-worth and pride.
Dr Karl Ludin Remnelius/ Pr Sven Bölte
Dr Karl Remnelius is PHD in the K6 Department of Women’s Children’s Health, with Pr Sven Bölte. Sven Bölte, Ph.D., who is professor of child and adolescent psychiatric science at the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health, Karolinska Institutet (KI), and senior clinical psychologist at the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Center for Psychiatry Research, Stockholm County Council, Sweden. Sven Bölte is director of the KI Centre of Neurodevelopmental Disorders (“KIND”) and has published more than 350 original articles, reviews, book chapters. Karl Remnelius and Sven Bölte’s works focuse on eating problems among autistic adolescents and adults with a gender differences approach and explore global experiences of gender differences in autism.
Pr Meng Chuan LAI
Dr. Meng-Chuan Lai is a psychiatrist and clinician-scientist at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto. He is an Associate Professor and Co-Chair, Advisory Council for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in Clinical Care in the Department of Psychiatry, and Graduate Faculty at the Institute of Medical Science and Department of Psychology, University of Toronto. He is an Honorary Visiting Fellow at the Department of Psychiatry, University of Cambridge, and an Adjunct Attending Psychiatrist at the National Taiwan University Hospital. He is an Editor of the journal Autism. As a Canadian Institute of Health Research Sex and Gender Science Chair, Dr. Lai’s work focuses on how sex- and gender-related factors act as modulatingmechanisms for the presentation and adaptation, clinical recognition, neurobiology and aetiologies of neurodevelopmental and co-occurring mental health conditions across the lifespan.
