Engineer/Technician position

A two-year engineer position is available in an ANR-funded project to work in the Physiopathology and therapeutic approaches of stress-related diseases team at the Neurocentre Magendie (Inserm U1215).

The position is available from January 2025 for 2 years.

Project: The neurosteroid pregnenolone (PREG) is produced in the brain and acts as an endogenous signaling specific inhibitor (CB1-SSi) of the brain cannabinoid type-1 receptor (CB1R), regulating the effects of cannabinoids, in particular the phytocannabinoid THC (Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol), the main psychoactive component of Cannabis Sativa. The proposed research aims to investigate the cellular and molecular mechanisms by which PREG would be able to counteract specific cannabinoid effects depending on the (sub)cellular pool of CB1R responsible for these effects.

Candidate: We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate with a background in Neuroscience and a willingness to be part of a team environment. The candidate must have completed a Master 2 or equivalent degree and hold a French animal experimentation license (« niveau experimentateur ») or its international equivalent. Knowledge of basic statistics and graphing is required. Previous experience
in one or preferably more of the following areas is a plus: mouse behavior, administration in mice (subcutaneous, intraperitoneal injections), cell culture, molecular and cell biology, confocal imaging.

Environment: The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr Monique Vallée and will interact with other team members (researchers, engineers, PhD and master students). He/she will benefit from an excellent working environment, including several state-of-the-art research facilities at the Magendie Neurocentre (genotyping, transcriptomics, analytical chemistry, bioinformatics) and the
Bordeaux Neurocampus (Bordeaux Imaging Center). Located in the beautiful city of Bordeaux, the Magendie Neurocentre is one of the leading French centers for neuroscience research.

Application: Interested candidates should submit a CV including research experience and a list of publications, as well as a cover letter detailing their motivation and providing contact information (two references). Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
