Workshop “Introduction to Experimental Neurosciences”.
Organized by the Bordeaux Neurocampus Graduate Program and the team of the Bordeaux School of Neuroscience with the help of the NBA, the mini-workshop “Introduction to Experimental Neuroscience” took place from October 26 to 30 in the premises of the Bordeaux School of Neuroscience.
This workshop, which was aimed at Master 2 students, was focused on learning through experimental practice key techniques in neuroscience. The projects were designed and developed by six workshop instructors, including five doctoral students and 1 research engineer from different Bordeaux Neurocampus teams: Cécilia Castelli (IINS, Humeau team), Nadia Di Franco (Magendie, Revest team), Urielle François (IINS, Humeau team), Catherine Marneffe (IINS, Mulle team), Giuliana Pellegrino (School of Neurosciences), Roman Ursu (IMN, Boraud / Burbaud team).
Topics covered included in vitro electrophysiology, stereotaxic surgery, immunocytochemistry and immunohistochemistry, preparation of cell cultures, behavioral studies, neuro-computational analysis.
About fifteen Master 2 Neuroscience students from the University of Bordeaux volunteered to participate in this workshop during their fall vacation week. In particular, this allowed them to do practical lab work, which they had been deprived of last year due to confinement.
Due to the sanitary situation and the restrictions put in place from Friday, November 30th, the presentation of the results which closed the workshop took place by videoconference. The final exchange demonstrated the success of the event with extremely positive feedback from all participants, both the instructors who were very satisfied with this teaching experience and the students for the knowledge gained:
“Overall incredible experience, a great opportunity to be part of this mini-workshop. Instructors were very kind and involved, technical equipment is on point, organization was great. ”
“I could learn a lot, and really appreciate the effort of the Neuroscience school to offer us some lab skills.”
“It would be so great if this was proposed more often during the holidays.” one of the students also testified … We hope so!
