Neurodegenerative disease model tissue biobank

Since the launch of GPR BRAIN_2030 in 2021, the engineers working on the Neurodegen project have created a biobank of tissue of rodent models for neurodegenerative disease animal models tissue, which is available to the research community of Bordeaux Neurocampus. Thanks to the GPR teams and their engineers, it is now accessible.

It has been designed and created to reduce the number of mice generated and to provide tissues for paper processing or pilot studies. Do not hesitate to contact the biobank managers to discuss this opportunity!

Our biobank contains frozen and fixed tissues from both male and female disease-carrier and non-carrier control rodents.

Models of neurodegenerative disease in the biobank are the following:

  • APP/PS1 mice (3, 6 and 9 months)
  • Tau*P301S mice (3 and 6 months)
  • SNCA-OVX mice (6, 12 and 18 months)
  • LB-injected mice (1 and 4 months)
  • SOD1G93A high-expressor (P40, P75 and P100)
  • Vitamin A deficient rats (1 and 4 months)

Frozen tissues are the following:

  • Brain
  • Cervical spinal cord
  • Thoracic spinal cord
  • Lumbar spinal cord
  • Lower intestine
  • Faeces
  • Limb
  • Blood

Fixed tissues (perfusion with PFA 4% and samples stored in PBS-azide) are the following:

  • Brain
  • Spinal cord

Please contact Justine Mathoux and Benjamin Dehay regarding your request for Biobank samples:

If you are working with these models and have spare animals, please contact the biobank managers. It will help to maintain the biobank for years to come, avoid unnecessary animal waste and respect the 3Rs rule.
