Postdoctoral position in Bioinformatics/Single Cell Biology
The team Energy Balance and Obesity at the Neurocentre Magendie in Bordeaux is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher, in an ERC-funded project.
The research focus of the team is to study the neurobiology of obesity and diabetes. The project aims to elucidate the molecular and functional heterogeneity of hypothalamic neuroendocrine neurons using state-of-the-art single cell molecular and functional profiling methods.
Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent degree or have submitted their thesis at the time of application. The ideal candidate will have experience in computational analysis of genomic data, machine learning for biological applications and biostatistics. However, we will also consider applicants from computer science, physics and mathematics with experience in machine learning or big data problems and a strong interest in single cell biology.
Candidates with a PhD in a biological or life science discipline and programming skills in a relevant bioinformatics language (Python, R, etc.) are also invited. Candidates will also be expected to write manuscripts, give research presentations and be involved in the day-to-day running of the laboratory. The ability to work both independently and in a team is essential.
Preferred start date is September 2024, but can be negotiated.
The initial contract will be for 2 years, but may be extended up to 5 years.
